Amorphophallus Titanum

Corpse flower or in Latin it is called Amorphophallus titanum (Becc.)

This plant is very well known in the community because it has very large inflorescences and is a plant with the largest inflorescences in the world. This plant was first discovered by Dr. Odoardo Beccari, a botanist from Italy in 1878. He found this plant around the Anai Valley waterfall, West Sumatra.

Beautyfull

This flower has a yellow spadik slightly tinged purple in places and the spatha is heart red. Amorphophallus titanum (Becc.) Becc. or this carrion flower is a member of the taro tribe (Araceae).

Stink

Amorphophallus titanum is called the corpse flower because this flower emits a foul odor that can be smelled with a radius of 100 m when it blooms. The smell comes from the amino acids that come out through the cob surface. The stench when the flowers bloom attracts the attention of insects to come and can help pollinate the plant.

Giant Size

Amorphophallus titanum has very large inflorescences and can be called the giant inflorescent in the world. The shape of the towering inflorescence which is actually a cob or spadix is surrounded by a flower sheath (spatha) which in bloom has an attractive red heart shape.

Strong Odor

The corpse flower will emit a very strong corpse odor when it blooms. It smells like rotting meat. These flowers give off a foul odor to attract insects, such as dung beetles and flesh flies, which will help them carry out the pollination process.
