Bondon Fruit (Artocarpus brevipedunculatus)


Bondon (Artocarpus brevipedunculatus) is a very rare tropical rainforest evergreen tree species of the family Moraceae that can grow 25 metres It is the cousin of jackfruit and breadfruit. The tree originates from northern Borneo , Malaysia the Philippines and Indonesia . The fruit is esteemed locally and is often gathered from the wild. Bondon is know as one of the best tasting artocarpus. Fruit can be eaten raw. The bright orange flesh of the fruit is very sweet,  juicy and aromatic. It normally takes 3 to 4 year to set fruit from seeds.
