Aristolochia is a genus of evergreen and deciduous lianas (woody vines) and herbaceous perennials. Smooth stems erect or slightly coiled. The simple leaves are alternate and curly, membranous, growing on the petiole. There are no conditions. The flowers grow in the leaf axils. They are expanded and rounded at the base, continue as a long perianth tube, ending in a tongue-shaped lobe, brightly colored. No crown. The petals are one to three circles, and three to six toothed. The sepals are fused

Aristolochia Decandra Seed Super Rare Plant

Aristolochia decandra
Aristolochia is a genus of evergreen and deciduous lianas (woody vines) and herbaceous perennials. Smooth stems erect or slightly coiled. The simple leaves are alternate and curly, membranous, growing on the petiole. There are no conditions. The flowers grow in the leaf axils. They are expanded and rounded at the base, continue as a long perianth tube, ending in a tongue-shaped lobe, brightly colored. No crown. The petals are one to three circles, and three to six toothed. The sepals are fused (gamosepalous). There are six to 40 stamens in a loop. They are united in style, forming gynostemium. Inferior ovary and four to six locular. These flowers have a special pollination mechanism. The plant is aromatic and its strong aroma attracts insects. The inside of the perianth tube is covered with hair, acting as a fly trap. These hairs then wither to release the fly, covered with pollen. The fruit is a dehiscent capsule with numerous endospermic seeds.
