Kasai Black matoa, Matoa fruit has a unique shape, oval-shaped with hard skin that is green, yellowish green and reddish green. Matoa trees can grow very large, reaching a height of up to 18 meters with a diameter of around 100cm. Matoa fruit is a seasonal fruit that only bears fruit once a year, especially around February to March. Matoa also has various names, such as Kasai (North Kalimantan, Malaysia, Indonesia), Malugai (Philippines), and Taun (Papua New Guinea). Usually, matoa trees develop and grow naturally on flat, clay-textured soil, so that when it rains the soil is slightly flooded. This plant belongs to the rambutan family (Sapindaceae).
