Mangifera griffithii is an evergreen tree; it usually grows 20 – 30 metres tall, occasionally to 40 metres. The bole is usually free of branches for more than half its height, up to 80cm in diameter and free of buttresses

Although it does not fruit every year, the tree is grown as a fruit crop within the plant’s native range[. It is sold in local markets, usually at a premium price compared to other mangoes due to its scarcity. The wood is also harvested, both for local use and for trade.
