Araceae is a family of monocotyledonous flowering plants or in Indonesia as the taro family. Plants of the Araceae family are sometimes known as the arum family, and their members are often referred to as aroids.
Araceae has more than 100 genera (genus) and 3700 species which are the most diverse in the New World tropics, also distributed in the Old World tropics and northern temperate regions.
Several derivatives of Araceae, especially those in the genus Anthurium, Alocasia, Aglaonema, Caladium and others have become very popular in the ornamental plant world.
